JFK retured from the war in the Solomon Islands and arrived in San Francisco bay on the USS Breton after his trans-Pacific transport from Tulagi in the South Pacific. He was reported to be physically and emotionally exhausted, but grateful to have survived the war and to be back in the States [1, p. 119], [3,p633]
