Described as breathtakingly lovely, she had won the crown of Cotton Queen of Louisiana and arrived in England in the summer of 1938 to promote the cotton industry. It was not long before she was being seen escorted by JFK in the Ritz hotel dressed in a smart, gray, two-piece suit with matching hat perched on one side of her head.
