March 20, 1939

JFK was  in London staying with his father, who was Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s. He accompanied his father to the House of Lords to hear Lord Halifax speak on the rising threat of war.

Jack was reportedly annoyed when he was asked several times while entering the visitors gallery if he was the eldest or second son. According to British tradition the choicest seats are awarded to the eldest sons of the peers.
