January 26, 1953 (Monday)
JFK had a heavy schedule of appointments. Not known for his matutinal work habits, he started with an 11:15 am meeting with Max Rines, moving quickly to a 11:30 meeting with two representatives of the railway organization Anderson and Lyons.
At 6:00 he went to the Presidential room at the Congressional Hotel for cocktails before a dinner held by the United Steelworkers labor organization, where met up with Frank Hoffman.
He then moved onto dinner in the Green Room in the Carlisle Hotel with Senator Lister Hill of Alabama, a frequent dining companion of JFK’s. Ever willing to court the press, JFK then went home to another dinner with Paul Healy of the Saturday Evening Post at about 7:30 pm to 7:45 pm.
