February 19, 1953 (Thursday)
JFK was in Washington, D.C. where he attended a Labor Committee meeting at 10:30 am. At noon he met with New York Times journalist and editorial page writer John Bertram Oakes, who in 1951 became one of the pioneer environmental writers. Oakes family also owned and published the paper.
Always willing to mix social pleasure and business, JFK met for lunch with Frank Boykin and Senator Sparkman in the Vandenberg room at noon.
At 3:00 pm he had a meeting with Philip Lemelman.
