JFK is at home on N street in Georgetown. Earlier in the day he met with Dean Rusk, who at the time was President of the Rockefeller Foundation and was a former Assistant Secretary of State. Kennedy offered Rusk the top job at State to which Dean reportedly replied, “Aren’t you going to offer it to Adlai Stevenson?” JFK responded, “No. Adlai might forget who’s the President and who’s the Secretary of State.”
