In response to a query from a constituent, JFK writes that he would favor the appointment of a United States Ambassador to the Vatican should the question arise in the Senate. He cites both Truman’s and FDR’s support for this as part of his justification.
This letter represents a change of position for JFK, who had earlier not supported this position.
